1: Prepare the Car Tire

  • Clean the Tire:
    • Thoroughly clean and scrub the car tire to remove dirt and debris.
  • Inspect and Prepare:
    • Check for any sharp edges or protrusions inside the tire. Sand down any rough spots.

2: Drill Holes for Chair Legs

  • Mark Hole Positions:
    • Use a marker to mark four points evenly spaced along the outer edge of the tire where the chair legs will be attached.
  • Drill Holes:
    • With a drill and appropriate drill bit, carefully drill holes at the marked positions.

3: Cover Holes with Carpet Rubber

  • Cut Rubber Pieces:
    • Cut small pieces of carpet rubber or grommets to cover each drilled hole.
  • Secure in Place:
    • Apply adhesive to the back of each rubber piece and press firmly over the drilled holes to reinforce and protect them.

4: Add Foam Cushion

  • Measure and Cut Foam:
    • Measure the inner diameter of the tire and cut the foam cushion to fit snugly inside.
  • Attach Foam:
    • Use adhesive to secure the foam to the inside of the tire, ensuring it is evenly distributed and covers the seating area.

5: Upholster the Tire

  • Cut Fabric:
    • Cut the upholstery fabric into a piece large enough to cover the foam cushion and wrap around the tire.
  • Secure Fabric:
    • Wrap the fabric around the tire and foam cushion, pulling it tightly. Use adhesive or a staple gun to secure the fabric to the underside of the tire.
  • Neat Finish:
    • Trim any excess fabric and ensure edges are neatly tucked and secured for a clean finish.
